Darlene Ann (Mallette) Schultz, 75 of Alpena passed away peacefully March 6, 2026, in Alpena Michigan.

Darlene Ann Mallette was born in Rome, New York October 6, 1950, to the late Joseph W. and Elsie M. (Parsons) Mallette. Being born into a military family meant frequent moves, her favorite being Germany where at the age of 7 she remembered beautiful farm country views out their back window and enjoyed the horses frequently passing by on the cobblestone streets. The family moved to Alpena during her junior year of high school, and she graduated in 1968 from Alpena High. She earned her associates degree from ACC and later would return to college earning her bachelor’s degree at the age of 50 from Spring Arbor University. She worked at NEMCSA until her retirement in 2020.

Darlene always had a love of books even from a very young age. She enjoyed yoga, cross stitching, cooking from scratch with fresh herbs and vegetables, lunch dates with her girlfriends, quiet time at home working crossword puzzles from the newspaper, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her 2 children; Rodney (Veronica) Kaiser, Karla (Jon) Roznowski; 3 grandchildren, Nick (Haley) Kaiser, Chelsie (Terry) Barilik, Brody (Emma) Roznowski; 4 great grandchildren; sister Debra (Chuck) Howlett; brother-in-law, Stan Walat; and former spouse/father of her children Robert F (Carol) Kaiser.

She was preceded in death by sister, Sandra Lee Walat, and brother, David A. Mallette.

Memorial visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Michelle Smith officiating.
