Mae Standen

Mae Lillian Roestel was born Aug. 24, 1953, in Pigeon, Michigan, to the late Walter and Lillian (Moore) Roestel. She married Garry DeCaire on May 26, 1972, who preceded her in death in 1996. She then married Harvey Standen on June 4, 2004, and he preceded her in death in 2009. She enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and watching birds and animals in nature. She especially enjoyed the view of the deer “her babies” out of her old apartment window.

Surviving are her two children, Malinda (Matthew) Amlotte of Alpena, Myra DeCaire (Alan Standen) of Alpena; stepson, Garry DeCaire II of Washington State; five grandchildren, Madison Amlotte of Pontiac, Marcus (Hope) Amlotte of Alpena, Rochelle (Cordell) Sweezy of Lansing, Christopher and Myranda Standen of Alpena; one sister, Rhea Miller of Caseville; lifelong friends, Jim and Carol Stein of Pigeon.

Mae was preceded in death by two siblings, Joyce Christner of Pigeon and Lawrence Roestel of Pigeon.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Bannan Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
