Linda Hamp

Linda Rose Marie Hamp, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this life on Feb. 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on July 6, 1949, in Alpena, Michigan, Linda graced this world with her presence, filled with warmth and compassion that touched many lives.

A proud graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1967, she commenced her career at General Telephone Company immediately after high school, where she contributed for many years until its closure. Pursuing her lifelong goal of education, Linda resumed her studies at the age of 50, ultimately obtaining her associate’s degree. She later dedicated herself to Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health as a SIP Worker, a role she filled with passion and commitment until her retirement.

Linda’s life was a testament to selflessness, as she consistently prioritized the needs of others before her own. A wonderful homemaker, she took great pride in ensuring that her husband and children were well cared for. Her unfailing positivity and her refusal to speak ill of anyone made her a beacon of light in any situation.

On Nov. 9, 1974, she married the love of her life, Robert Hamp, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Alpena. Their union blossomed into a beautiful partnership filled with unconditional love and joy, as they raised their children together, crafting a familial bond that was both strong and enduring.

Linda was born to the late Stanley and Jean (Dumsch) Skowronek and was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom and Dave Skowronek. She leaves behind her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Robert, and their children: Bob (Megan) Hamp, Chris (Gretchen) Hamp, Eric (Dana) Hamp, as well as stepchildren Aaron (Dawn) Hamp and Ashley (Brenda) Hamp. Her grandchildren, Ethan, Devyn Rose, Henryk, Greyson, Gavin, Garrett, Sarah, Shane, Jack, Jacob, and Jarrod, will carry her spirit forward for generations to come. Also holding her dearly in their hearts are her siblings, Jim Skowronek, Larry (Beth) Skowronek, and Mary (Pete) VanVlerah, along with many nieces and nephews who were fortunate to share in her love.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to Hospice Compassus. The family would like to thank Hospice Compassus for the wonderful care that was given to Linda.

Linda Rose Marie Hamp will be remembered as a kind, loving, and caring soul who had an enduring impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness and devotion to family will continue to inspire and nurture the hearts of her loved ones.
