Joanne Kindt

Joanne Lila Restau was born in Alpena on May 24, 1934, to the late Herbert and Lila (Barsen) Restau. On Sept. 18, 1954, she married Ervin Schiller. Together they owned and operated Schiller Ready Mix, until his death on Aug. 18, 1975. She continued the business for several more years. On July 19, 1980, she married William Fred Kindt. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2025. Joanne had been an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her three children, Herb (Jan) Schiller, Julie King, Laurie (Wayne) Aube; grandchildren, Michael (Courtney) Schiller, Michael (Kristin) Bartz, Brian Schiller, Kayla (Trent) Bruski, Alan Schiller, Casey Schiller, Brandon Aube, Meagan (Logan Hawley) Aube; three great grandchildren, Wesley, Bennett, Starr; four step-children, Rickie (Esther) Kindt, Tamyra (Gary) DeCaire, Dennis (Annette) Kindt, Allan (Mary Beth) Kindt; and their families; sister, Marvis (David) McNeil.

Mrs. Kindt was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen; son-in-law, Robert King; and stepson, Larry Kindt.

Memorial visitation will take place at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with Rev. Thomas Orth officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
