Betty was a fantastic wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who was continually focused on her family. Her favorite topic and memories were about growing up on a farm in Long Rapids, Michigan. She married Don in Feb. 1953 in Detroit, Michigan and enjoyed 72 years of wedded bliss. She graduated from Alpena High School and the University of Michigan. She also achieved two master’s degrees and was an adjunct professor in gerontology at Mercy College. She worked for several years as a dental hygienist while raising four children. She was an avid tennis player, playing competitively well into her 80s. She was extremely active and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, golf, gardening and nature. She was an excellent painter, providing numerous original paintings for her family and friends to enjoy.
Betty will be missed greatly, but we take solace in knowing she is close to God and part of his long-term plan.
A service to be held in Long Rapids, Michigan in the summer of 2026. Betty will be laid to rest in Long Rapids cemetery.
