Mark R. Diamond, 97, of Alpena, died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
Mark was born in Roseville, Michigan, on Dec. 28, 1928, to the late Arthur and Pauline (Ticho) Diamond. Mark married Betty (Hill) Diamond on Sept. 19, 1952. She preceded him in death in 2014. He owned and operated Diamond’s Point Shell for many years and in his front yard had the brightest Christmas tree on Werth Road. Mark was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake.
Surviving are his four sons, Philip (Wanda)Diamond, Paul Diamond, Steven (Diane) Diamond, and John Diamond; five grandchildren, Kelsey (Casey) Hanson, Benjamin (Allison), Aaron, Matthew Diamond, and Natalie Grace; three great grandchildren, Ezra and Elias Hanson and Charlotte Diamond; dear friend Iris Tessmer; sisters-in-law Genie Diamond and Sandi (Ron) Hempel; brother-in-law James Dutcher.
Mark was preceded in death by his three brothers, Jack Diamond, Clair Diamond and Dennis Diamond.
Visitation will be at Hope Lutheran Church on Friday, Jan. 30 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bryan R. Salminen officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, MyMichigan-Alpena Development Fund, or Hospice of Michigan – Alpena.
