Karen Sue Wallace, 81, of Alpena died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving children.
Karen Sue Diemond was born in Alpena on June 13, 1944, to the late Franklin and Beatrice (St. Charles) Diemond. She owned and operated B Unique Hair Salon for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena and Friends Together. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and generosity touched everyone who knew her. Karen dedicated much of her life to her family. Her warm smile, sense of humor, and unwavering support will be remembered fondly. Karen’s home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and love.
Surviving are her two children, Lorna (Kurt) Zolnierek, Chad (Bobbe) Wallace; two grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Thom, Nolan Zolnierek; three great grandchildren, Owen, Mae, Will; two siblings, Dolores Sumerix, Lucille (Royal) VanAken; several nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Coussineau; and her brother, Dennis Diemond.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will continue at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Shipman officiating.
