Curtis Eagle

Curtis Dale Eagle, 91, of Alpena died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.

Curtis was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on May 1, 1934, to the late William and Zelda (Habermehl) Eagle. On June 26, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Brilinski. Following graduation at Michigan Technological University in 1957, with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana to begin work at International Harvester. Then in 1960 they returned to Alpena to work at Besser Company. Following Besser, Curtis worked at Huron Portland Cement (now Amrise) and later took a job with Abitibi Corporation. Finally in December of 1969 he left Abitibi to form Eagle Engineering Company with his wife Joan. During that time, he also worked with Robert Granham to form and startup Panel Processing in Alpena.

As a local community minded businessman, he helped develop the Industrial Park on U.S.-23 North. With his strong faith, he helped bring many Billy Graham film crusades to the Alpena area, was a member of Word of Life Baptist Church, later helping found Huron Shores Fellowship, joined Gideons International and was active in both the Alpena and Presque Isle Yacht Clubs.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Joan; three children, Curtis Eagle, Bradley (Ann) Eagle, Shiela (Craig) Hendricks; nine grandchildren, Allison (Jason) Gilbert, Joy Eagle, Lea (Yigit) Esen, Ridhi Eagle, Stephen Hendricks, Hannah Henriques, Thomas (Danielle) Hendricks, Margaret (Spencer Shatto) Hendricks, Michael Hendricks; five great grandchildren, Kennedy, Lainey, Ennio, Harper, Edmund; and a sister Joyce (Philip) Ghiata.

Mr. Eagle was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Suzanne Eagle and granddaughter, Zoey.

Visitation will take place at the Huron Shores Fellowship on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. with Rev. Joe Collins and Rev. Warren Hoffman officiating. Funeral arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
