Thomas Leonard Gohl, 92, of Alpena died Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at Medilodge – Alpena.
Thomas was born in Alpena on May 2, 1933, to the late Guy and Sarah (Hawley) Gohl. Tom served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and would often say “They ended the war, when they knew I was coming”. Following his honorable discharge, he worked and retired from the cement plant in 1991. He enjoyed the farm and is proud that the family centennial farm has been passed to his granddaughter. On April 3, 1970, he married Gloria Zielinski.
Surviving are his wife Gloria; two children, Cheryl Gohl, Brian (Barb Ryan) Gohl; son-in-law, Scott Johnson; six grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Szott, Samantha (Andrew) DeLong, Alayna Gohl, Ryan Johnson, Laney Johnson, Steven Johnson; 5 great grandchildren, Sawyer, Reese, Lorelia, Kinslee, Bexlee; two sisters, Dora Frey, Betty Wirgau; many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by daughter, Faith Johnson; seven siblings, Eileen Hollenbeck, Gloria Landry, Robert Gohl, Jean Hackel, Eleanore Howay, Grace Wysocki and Delynn Wirgau.
Cremation arrangements have been handed by the Bannan Funeral Home. A celebration of Tom’s life will take place at later date.
