Aug. 6, 1941 – Dec. 6, 2025

Robert Ellery

Robert Martin Ellery, 84, of Alpena died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and Snoopy the family dog, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Robert was born in Alpena on Aug. 6, 1941, to the late Raphael and Mae (Mary) (Minton) Ellery. He graduated from Alpena Catholic Central in 1960. Following graduation Bob worked at Alpena Printing Studio and later owned Bob’s Print Shop, being known as “the guy that did our wedding invitations”. On July 14, 1962, he married Carol Soltysiak. Bob worked and retired from LaFarge, continuing relationships with the retirees by organizing the monthly breakfast. In his retirement he enjoyed volunteering for the hospital driving the van for those needing a quick ride, annual family trips to North Myrtle Beach, playing cards and hunting. He will be remembered most as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was our hero — always ready with a laugh, always caring, and always committed to his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Carol; three children, Laura (Ted) Ellery-Somers, Rhonda (Ron) Ellery-Peterson; Kenneth Ellery; five grandchildren, Brittany (Russ) Skuse, Brandon (Sydney) Cramer, Kayla (Ryan) Schuelke, Courtney (Tommy Moore) Keller, Brock Ellery; five great grandchildren, Elliott Skuse, Ellery Mae Skuse, Capri Cramer, Braelynn Ellery, Lilah Ellery; brother, Dale (Rita) Ellery; brothers-in-law, Ronald Standen, Walt Antkowiak; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ellery was preceded in death by four siblings, Eugene (Elaine) Ellery, Joyce Standen, Shirley (James) LaBarge and Carol Antkowiak.
