Gerald Flavin Soldenski, age 81, of Lapeer (and Alpena), died Wednesday Dec. 17, 2025. “Jerry” was born April 7, 1944 in Alpena to parents Flavin and Sally (Smolinski) Soldenski. He graduated from Alpena High School and married Linda J. Lenda a few years later, on Aug. 20, 1966 in Hamtramck.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer for years and in many of the recent years, his faith was served by watching Sunday mass on television. Jerry was a huge outdoorsman, from hunting to fishing. Fishing for salmon and lake trout on the big water, Lake Huron, was a primary pastime. His family, as well as himself, enjoyed his cooking. He was known as an animated fan for both the Detroit Lions and Red Wings. Jerry loved anything with his family, especially the grandkids.
Mr. Soldenski is survived by his wife of 59 years: Linda; children: Jim (Denise) Soldenski, Jocelyn Leckrone and Judy (Jim) Coulter; son-in-law: Tory Tallent; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Faye Haven, John (Linda) Soldenski and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Jacqueline Soldenski, son-in-law: Wayne Leckrone, grandson: Elijah Tallent, siblings: George and Kay Soldenski as well as his aforementioned parents.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. The Rosary will be prayed 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 at the funeral home. Jerry’s funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 14, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423, Father Andrew A. Czajkowski will officiate. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church, from noon to 1 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
