Patricia Lewis
Patricia (“Pat”) Louise Lewis (née Mousseau), 77, of Saginaw, Michigan, died and entered her eternal home on Nov. 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 24, 1948, in Alpena, Michigan, Pat was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Edith (Thompson) Mousseau. Pat grew up in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School with the Class of 1966. She continued her education at Central Michigan University, where she competed on the CMU gymnastics team. It was there that she met the love of her life, fellow gymnast Stanley “Stan” Lewis. The two married on Sept. 23, 1967, beginning a marriage rooted in deep devotion, shared joy, and 58 wonderful years together.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Pat lived a life marked by connection and kindness. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued–she remembered every detail, every birthday, every story. Her warmth, humility, and genuine interest in people left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Faith was the foundation of Pat’s life. For many years, she served joyfully at First Baptist Church in downtown Saginaw, especially within the youth group. Pat and Stan’s home became a beloved gathering place–filled with swimming, volleyball, basketball, laughter, and home-cooked meals. Legendary road trips to Colorado in the youth-painted school bus created memories that are still shared today. Countless family members and friends found support and encouragement in Pat and Stan’s basement bedroom, affectionately known as home to the “basement dwellers.”
More recently at Immanuel Bible Church, Pat continued her heart for service through the Women to Women ministry, where she especially enjoyed preparing care packages for college students.
Pat found immense joy in genealogy and treasured time spent with family. She delighted in long-term traditions, including camping at Coldwater Lake near Mount Pleasant and taking VW van trips to the Mousseau family cottage in Alpena. One of her most cherished lifelong memories was attending the 1972 Munich Olympics, where she was able to see elite gymnastics in person.
Among Pat and Stan’s greatest shared accomplishments was building their family cottage on Big Island Lake in National City. Over decades, it became a treasured haven–filled with stories, laughter, porch conversations, and generations of family gatherings. The cottage stands as a testament to their hard work, hospitality, and love.
In 2014, Pat was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. With extraordinary strength, faith, and optimism, she underwent a successful stem cell transplant donated by her brother, Tim. Pat bravely participated in a clinical drug trial and later testified before Congress about the therapy’s success–an act of courage that helped bring the treatment to FDA approval. Her resilience and determination inspired family, friends, and medical professionals alike.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Lewis; her children, Carey Lewis (Sarah) and Christie Bryant (Scott); her siblings, Timothy Mousseau (Precy) and Gary Mousseau; her grandchildren, Nathaniel Bryant (Jordan), Cameron Bryant, Sydney Self (Justen), Claire Rizer (Max-Edward), Nicolas Lewis, and Julia Lewis; and her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Bryant and Easton Self. She is also survived by many beloved extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Edith Mousseau; her sister-in-law, Jean Mousseau; and her infant sister, Terry Mousseau.
