Jerry Werth
Jerry William Werth, Sr., 74, of Alpena died peacefully on Nov. 17, 2025.
He was born on April 3, 1951, in Alpena to the late Arthur and Viola (Golder) Werth, growing up on the Werth family farm where he and his cousins enjoyed days running across the fields, playing baseball and farming with his father.
A proud Alpena High School graduate of class of 1969, Jerry went to build a long and dedicated career with the Besser Company. In his early years, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Naomi Smalley and together they shared 53 beautiful years filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering partnership. They raised two children, Jerry Jr. and Ra’Chelle. He proudly served in the Army National Guard.
Jerry was a man of many talents and passions. He was an avid hunter, an exceptional artist, and a master craftsman of model jets – each piece reflecting his patience and precision. He found great joy and freedom riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. But above all his hobbies, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family. He cherished every moment, and he was endlessly proud of the children, grandchildren, who filled his life with joy.
He leaves behind his children, Jerry Jr. (Lisa) Werth and Ra’Chelle (Matt) Hauff; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, all of whom will carry his stories, lessons, and love forward until they can see him again. He is also survived by a sister, niece, and numerous cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, whom he now rejoins in eternal peace.
I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. John 11:25-26
Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. A celebration of Jerry’s life will take place at a later date.
