Harry Julius Jakubiak, 88, of Alpena died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at the Besser Senior Community surrounded by his family.
Harry was born in Alpena on Oct. 9, 1937, to the late Theophil and Esther (Suszek) Jakubiak. On Sept. 3, 1960, he married the love of his life Agatha Romel. He always said she was “the prettiest girl in Posen”. He was an active member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, and a past Krakow Township Board of Trustee. Harry worked and retired in 1999 from JD Philips Company. Of his many accomplishments his proudest were building his own home and hunting cabin. Prioritizing family time and traditions was always important to him. Harry and Aggie were avid polka dancers and traveled the states going to dances. He was a master of many skills and known as the West Long Lake handy man for years. Harry was an outgoing, friendly man who loved meeting and talking to people.
Surviving are his wife, Agatha; four children, Gerard (Karen) Jakubiak, Lenore (Jerry) Emerick, Marvin (Kimberly) Jakubiak, Connie (Wayne) Lewis; 11 grandchildren, Amanda (Evan) Swift, Aaron Jakubiak, Emily (Corey) Fase, Rachel (Ben) Emerick, Brooke Emerick, Andrew Jakubiak, Kalena Jakubiak, Nicholas (Olivia) Adamiak, Benjamin (Lindsay) Adamiak, Chad (Anna) Lewis, Alecia Lewis; three great grandchildren, Cooper, Emmett, Brooks; three sisters, Eleanor Odusky, Mary Lou Hillman, Darlene (Larry) Frantz; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jakubiak was preceded in death by infant daughter, Esther.
Visitation will take place on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Casimir Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Donajkowski officiating.
Inurnment: St. Casimir Cemetery
Memorials: St. Casimir Catholic Church or All Saints Parish.
