Gary Sharp, age 82, of Alpena, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.
Gary was born in Detroit and raised in Alpena, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and the outdoors. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest happiness when surrounded by those he loved.
He is survived by his five children: Tom Sharp, Jim Sharp (Lisa), and Gary Sharp, all of Alpena, MI; Tim Sharp (Pat) of Columbia, SC; and Wendy Quarles (Andy) of Augusta, GA. He also leaves behind six grandchildren -- Kari Sharp, Alex Davis, Brittany Davis, Justin Sharp, Josh Sharp, and Kayla Sharp -- and nine great-grandchildren. Gary is also survived by his sisters Sandy Samp and Karen Allen, and his brother Mike Sharp.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sheron Sharp; his parents, Edward and Mable Sharp; his brothers, Dale Sharp and Terry Sharp; and his sister, Tammy Pohl.
Gary enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors, especially when sharing his favorite tradition -- a hearty outdoor hobo stew -- with his family. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
