He was a proud graduate of Alpena High School, class of 1951. After graduation, Paul enlisted in the Army, proudly serving his country. His commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement in various organizations. Paul was a devout Christian and a long-time member of St. Catherine Church, where he dutifully served as an usher. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he found great joy in serving his church community. In addition to his religious devotion, Paul was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, achieving the esteemed 4th degree. He was also a proud member of the UAW Retirees and an active participant in the Democratic Party, where he championed the values of equality and justice.

Paul found love again and married Ethel McClung Davis on August 26, 2005, who also preceded him in death. His family was his pride and joy, including his parents, his brothers Harold (Carlene) Carriveau and Gerald Carriveau, his sister Helen (James) Grochowski, step-children Larry and Diana, many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
