Christena Hall

Christena Ann Merrill was born June 28, 1931, to the late Raymond and Mabel (Ferris) Merrill, the second of four children. She successfully raised her six children by herself, teaching them to be fiercely independent while remaining loyal to each other and to the family, and encouraged education, adventure, and humor. She expected that her kids be self-supporting and encouraged them to know how to care for a child, a car, a career, or a crisis on their own. Her hobbies include crocheting, quilting, and making ceramics. She loved visiting and traveling with her children and expressed pride in their accomplishments. Christine insisted to the end that she didn’t have a favorite daughter and made all of her children feel special and valued, but it is with the utmost respect that we rejoice as she is reunited with her favorite son, her siblings and parents, and her friends. She has left us, still fat and sassy to the end, and she will be missed.

Surviving are 5 daughters, Sandra (David) Nevins, Carol (Vaughan) Waters, Debra Spranger, Betty Taylor, Kristy (Bruce) Twite; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by, son, Dale Hall; 2 sons-in-law, Charles Spranger, Elmer Taylor; granddaughter, Jennifer Smith; siblings Virginia DeRosia, Raymond Merrill, and Suzan Miller.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. A private memorial service will take place at a later time.
