Alden Kenneth Kirschner, 82, of Alpena passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at his home.
Alden was born February 22, 1943, in Alpena to the late Arnold and Gertrude (Paad) Kirschner. On April 3, 1965, he married Naomi Faith Hutchinson. Alden worked at Abitibi, retiring due to an accident on September 19, 1987. He was a member of Word of Life Baptist Church and Wednesday morning Bible study, Alpena Lions Club for 40 years, and the Toast Master’s Club. He was a longtime volunteer for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, spending years manning the radio and helping boaters on Lake Huron.
Surviving are his wife, Faith; two children, Wendy (Michael) Van Voorhis, Bruce (Barbie Desmet) Kirschner; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlin Van Voorhis, Lauren Van Voorhis, Dylan Kirschner, Cole Kirschner, Cody Kirschner; his leader dog, Bennett; 7 siblings, Rev. Arnie (Loleta) Kirschner, Timothy (Loree) Kirschner, Daniel Kirschner, Beverly (Calvin) Maynard, Ruben (Elizabeth) Kirschner, Philip (Mary) Kirschner, and Pete (Sandy) Kirschner.
Alden was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Wilma Kirschner; his previous three leader dogs, Chester, Bentley, and Cody.
Visitation will take place Friday, August 15, 2025, at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. and continue at Word of Life Baptist Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Joy officiating.
Interment: King Settlement Cemetery
