Nancy Prieur
Nancy Jo Prieur, 70, of Alpena, formerly of Mio, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025.
Nancy was born on October 12, 1954, to the late John and Rosemary (Lucas) Hillman. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and dedication, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Nancy’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She was a devoted mother to Carl (Kat) Prieur, Starr (Joe) Fleck, and Amber (Adam) Wysocki. Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one she cherished deeply, leaving behind a legacy of love and wisdom for her 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Nancy’s sisters, Penny Barton and Mary Ziegler, will remember her as not only a sibling but as a confidante and lifelong friend. Though she was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters, the bond they shared continues to live on through the stories and memories they created together. For many years, Nancy served her community as a compassionate caregiver, a role that allowed her to extend her nurturing spirit beyond her own family. Her work was not just a job but a calling, as she provided comfort and support to those in need.
Nancy’s interests were as rich and varied as the life she led. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time with her family, tending to her home and lawn with meticulous care, and expressing her creativity through sewing and quilting. Thrift shopping was another pastime she enjoyed, always on the lookout for hidden treasures. An avid Detroit Tigers fan, Nancy’s enthusiasm for her team was infectious, and she rarely missed a game. Her love and her presence will be deeply missed. The family extends a special thank you to Nancy’s caregivers; Jonathan Barton, and the staff at Hospice of Michigan and Touch of Country AFC for their wonderful care and love.
Per her wishes Nancy has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. Memorial donations can be made to Susan’s Wish Fund at MyMichigan Medical Center. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
