LeRoy John Schram, 85, of Webberville, formerly of Lincoln, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 at his home.
Born July 22, 1939, to Earl and Thressa (Burge) Schram in Lincoln, he was raised on the family farm. LeRoy attended school at Lincoln Elementary, graduated from Oscoda High School in 1957, and attended Alpena Community College. He worked for Alcona County Road Commission after college, and then worked as a Michigan State Police Officer in Lansing and Pontiac. He later worked as a crane operator, helping to build several buildings in Detroit, such as the people mover or TRAM and the GM building. He set homes for Heckman and many others. In 2007, he married Denise DePue in Mt. Vernon, KY, where they lived for 15 years. He moved to Webberville in 2017 to be closer to his family. LeRoy has been a member of the Alcona Masons since he was 18. He was always there for any of his friends or family when they needed anything.
LeRoy is survived by his wife Denise, three daughters, Tina (Eugene) Peterson, Kim (Brian) Coffey, and Melissa (Eric) Hagen, his stepchildren, William (Bridgette) O’Connor, Nicole (Bill) Peters, Kevin (Gosia) O’Connor, Brandon (Justine) O’Connor, Shawn (Kristen) O’Connor, Kathryn (Rob) O’Connor, and 46 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his son, Randolph Schram, his daughter Nesha Scroggins, and his first wife, Ginger Darling-Schram.
Mr. Schram is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where visitation will be on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the funeral service 2:00 PM. The service will have a motorcycle theme, and everyone is welcome to bring their bikes and wear their leather. Burial will be in Twin Lakes Cemetery, Lincoln.
