Laurie Jo Chavez, Lansing, Michigan, formerly of Alpena, Michigan, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the age of 67. Born December 21, 1957 to Stanley and Marion (Hanson) Splitt in Alpena, Michigan. Laurie was a graduate of Alpena High School class of 1976. She was a loving and loyal person always putting others first. Laurie worked 10 years for MSU in an administrative position prior to running a daycare for many years in Holt. She later would go to work for Community Mental Health retiring from the administrative department in 2019. Laurie loved nature and especially enjoyed taking walks. Most of all she loved her family. Laurie was a devoted mother and grandmother and always there for those who needed her most. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all who remember her. Preceding her in death were her brother, David Splitt; brother-in-law, Phillip Sautter and her parents.
