Eugene Karl Jutzi, age 89, of Moltke Township, passed away peacefully at the Rogers City Medilodge Memory Care Unit on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Eugene was born in Saginaw on December 17, 1935, to Edward and Gertrude (Nowack) Jutzi.

He graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw in 1953. He served in the US Navy from 1954 to 1958, earning the Rank of IC-3. He was a long-distance truck driver with Yellow Freight System for almost 20 years. After a back injury, he attended State Technical Institute and Rehabilitation Center to learn clock, watch and jewelry repair, graduating in 1983. Soon after, he opened and operated Jutzi’s Watch, Clock and Jewelry Repair business in Ocqueoc for over 40 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed singing.

Eugene had a soaring tenor voice and sang solos at countless weddings and church services. He enjoyed talking with people and loved to tell a good story. Eugene and his wife Mary enjoyed 20 winters in southern Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Gertrude (Nowack) Jutzi, his wife Mary of 46 years until her passing in 2017, sisters Dorothy Jutzi, Lois Peitsch, Gertrude Sturm, brother Edward Jutzi Jr. and stepdaughter Marcia (Bruce) Butgereit of Kentwood.

Eugene is survived by his three children, Jean Amico (Paul Hoskins) of Chino Valley, AZ; Karl (Laurie) Jutzi of Paw Paw; Jane (Chad) Cohoon of Kalamazoo, his stepchildren, Jerry (Karen) Bruin of Greenville, Midge (Kevin) Krueger of Colorado City, CO; Marlene (Alvin) Gehrke of St. Peters, MO; Marilynn Klawiter of Watertown, NY; Marji (Jim) Scheele of Cheboygan; and Marla (Karl) Koepke of Milwaukee, WI; 7 grandchildren, 24 step grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 32 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke Township (7134 Church Highway, Rogers City, MI 49779) on Saturday July 26th from 10:00 a.m. through the time of his funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Joseph Bangert officiating.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Moltke in memory of Eugene Jutzi.
