Neil LaCombe

Neil LaCombe, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 82, in Alpena.

Neil was born June 7, 1943, in Alpena to the late Francis and Ethel (Reynolds) LaComb. His life was marked by the love he shared with his devoted wife, Patricia (Nelson) LaCombe who he married on July 18, 1981, and the family they built together. He was a guiding light to his children, Kevin (Melissa) LaCombe and Michele B. (Russell) LaCombe-Zann, and a beloved stepfather to Jimmy (Jody) Landon, Jeffery (Kristina) Landon, and Gina Steele. Neil’s legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward.

Neil’s sister, Mable Hall, sister-in-law Kay LaCombe, and brother-in-law David Suszek, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will fondly remember his infectious humor and adventurous spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Eric LaCombe, and his brothers Jerry LaCombe, Roy LaComb, and George Stevens, and sisters Theodocia Tadajewski, and Gladys Suszek.

A dedicated worker, Neil spent many years as a tool setter for General Motors, where his strong work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues were greatly valued. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his involvement in the community, particularly with the Sunrise Corvette Club, where he shared his love for sleek cars and open roads.

Neil’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in hunting, fishing, and tending to his farm. His love for sports was evident in his support for Detroit teams and his own participation in softball, where he was known for his competitive yet jovial nature. Neil’s adventurous soul led him to explore the world on his motorcycle, and he never passed up an opportunity to visit a casino, always ready for a good time.

Those who knew Neil will remember him for his bossy yet endearing demeanor, a testament to his desire to live life to the fullest. He was a regular at the Old Timer Breakfast, where his stories and jokes were a highlight for all. Neil’s courage was as much a part of him as his sense of humor, and together they defined a man who was unafraid to take on life’s challenges with a smile.

Neil will be laid to rest at Maple Ridge Twp. Cemetery where a private graveside service will take place at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
