Dale R. Schultz
Dale R. Schultz, 80, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2025.
Dale Ronald Schultz was born in VanDyke, MI on July 1, 1944, to the late Arnold and Alice (Bahrke) Schultz. He married Patricia Jo Bertrand on October 24, 1964. He was the heart of his family and the superhero to his five daughters, whom he raised with unwavering love and devotion alongside the love of his life, Patricia Jo, his wife of 61 years. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and simple joys. Dale’s greatest happiness came from time spent with his daughters — Kimberly S. Schultz, Debra K. (Carl Eller) Schultz, Dawn M. (Brett) Anderson, Christine L. (Bill) O’Neil, and Tamara R. (Matt) Szydlowski — and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored him.
Dale was known for his kind heart, and quiet strength. He loved playing cards, reading, hunting, fishing, bird watching, chasing off the squirrels that threatened his feeders, photography, long drives, camping, and being part of any family gathering. His gentle presence brought joy to those around him. He was a proud member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Alpena Cycle Club. After retiring from the Sheet Metal Union Local #7, Dale continued to bring happiness to others by delivering flowers for Lasting Expressions — a job that suited his warm and caring spirit.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren: Joel, Sophia, Adon, Paulie, Alexandra, Ericka, Courtney, Ashley, Kyle, Everett, Olivia, Ellen, Emma, Isabelle, Sadie, Christopher, Ben, Madeline, Owen; great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Johnny, Elizabeth, Niko, Jackson, Myles, and Levi. He also leaves behind siblings Diane Chamberlain, Duane (Sharon) Schultz, Daryl (Diane) Schultz; sisters-in-law, Faye (Gale) Porter, and Virginia Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Darwin Schultz, Dennis Schultz; brothers-in-law, Gary Poch and Dan Chamberlain.
Dale’s legacy of love, laughter, and quiet generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Memorial visitation will take place Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with the Rev. Thomas Orth officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by Bannan Funeral Home.
