Wayne David Bobolz

Wayne was born in Alpena on Sept. 28, 1943, to Lila Bobolz. He was drafted into the military after high school, soon after joining the Army Wayne married Kathleen Grover. After leaving the Army Wayne worked for General Motors in Flint until the time of his retirement in 1997. Wayne returned to Alpena in 1997, when he met Susan Repke/Lee and they were married in October 1998.

Wayne enjoyed watching any type of sporting activity and was a lifelong fan of the Lion’s, Tiger’s, Red Wings and the University of Michigan. He also enjoyed spending time in any casino in his path (win or lose), hunting, morning coffee at McDonald’s with his friends, and spending time with family.

Wayne was preceded in death by his mother Lila MacMillan, first wife Kathleen Bobolz, son David Bobolz, stepchildren Steven (Patti) Lee and Cheri (Terry) Muszynski. Wayne is survived by his wife Susan Bobolz, children Brian (Karen) Bobolz, Christy (Matt) Marwede, stepchildren Tim (Kerri) Lee and Melissa (Jeff) Finney, grandchildren (Kyle, Austin, Brooke, Alyssa, Lila) and great-grandchild Grayson and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Alpena. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post #2496 and U.S. Army beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the memorial service immediately following with the Rev. John Shipman officiating. Memorial donations in Wayne’s honor can be made to the organization of your choice.
