DEBORAH LOUISE NEWSOME

Deborah Louise Newsome, 60, of Alpena, passed away Feb. 14, 2025, at Medilodge Greenview of Alpena, following a short battle with cancer. Her loving family was by her side!

“Debbie,” as she liked to be known, was born Feb. 4, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, to Frank and Grace Newsome. After graduating from Cass City High School, she married James Wilding. Her son Justin, whom she was so proud of, was born in 1988. During her life, Debbie worked a variety of jobs, but most important to her was providing in home care to those in need!

After her divorce, she moved to Alpena with her significant other, Jeff Attard, to be closer to Justin and his family! Sadly, Jeff passed away unexpectedly shortly after moving to the area.

Debbie loved sewing, gardening, fishing, and sharing “family time” in front of a campfire! She adored watching her son Justin participate in area Bump and Runs and was his Biggest fan! When Debbie became ill and could no longer walk, her “new scooter skills” earned her the nickname “Derby Debbie” … a nickname that made her laugh, and she truly Loved!

Nothing made Debbie happier than spending time with her grandchildren, who she Adored, her family, and friends! Debbie will always be remembered for her quiet, gentle nature, her laugh, and her beautiful smile!

Debbie is survived by her Loving brother Mark Newson of Clarkston, Michigan. Her Loving son Justin, wife Jessica, and their family, daughter Aubrey Wilding, of Bad Axe, MI, son Logan Corwin, and daughter Harleigh Wilding, all of Alpena.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jo Ann Terry, and significant other, Jeff Attard. Per her wishes, Debbie has been cremated, with no services planned. Memorials in her honor may be sent to “Friends Together!”

The family wants to express their “Deepest Thanks” to the McWilliams Funeral Home for their Very Kind and Professional guidance during this very difficult time, as well as the Staff of Medilodge Greenview Alpena, for their Loving care of Debbie and the family!

To anyone who has reached out in any way during their time of great loss… “Thank You!” Your kindness will never be forgotten!!!
