James (Jim) Philip Youngblood passed away on March 21, 2025. Jim was born May 19, 1939, to the late Joseph A. and Teresa Youngblood. He had one brother Joseph W Youngblood (dec’d) (Trudy) two sisters Marcie Rathsberg (dec’d) (Jack) (dec’d) and Sister Mary Ellen Youngblood Adrian Michigan.
Jim attended St. Ambrose high school and graduated in 1957. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Airborne Division Fort Campbell, KY. After his release from active duty, he attended the University of Detroit. Jim was employed by Commercial Union Insurance Company where he met his lovely wife Joan Carol Polkinghorne. They were married on April 22, 1961, Joan passed away Nov. 30, 2022. They have six children Diane T Donlon (Kevin) of Englewood, FL, Michael Youngblood (Cheryl) of Bloomington, MN, Mark Youngblood (Julie), of Livonia, MI, Denise Youngblood (dec’d) Lynn Marie Youngblood Lincoln, MI and John Youngblood (adopted) (Chelsea) York, PA. Jim and Joan have 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
At an early age, Jim was very active in a number of organizations that included Boy Scouts of America. After completing all the requirements he was awarded the Eagle Scout the highest scouting achievement, also the AD-ALTARE-DEI Catholic scouting award. He is the Post Grand Knight of Council 3359 K of C Denville Nu and Past Grand Knight K of C Council 6851 Ossineke, MI, Past President FOE Dover. Jim and his wife of 61 years loved to travel for the most part they were on cruises with friends. Jim also enjoyed Golf, bowling, hunting and fishing.
Jim is at McWilliams Funeral Home where family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at St. Catherine Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Basil Lek officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army and VFW Post #2496 immediately following. Interment: St. Catherine Cemetery.
