Arthur Walter “Bud” Adrian, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on April 16 in Point Aux Barques, Michigan, to the late Arthur H.W. and LaVerna (Fuerst) Adrian. Art’s life was a testament to the values of hardwork, dedication, and the importance of family.
Art was a proud graduate of Alpena High School. He was an exceptional athlete and lettered in multiple sports. He played baseball in the AAA league in Gainesville, Florida, with his brother Bill. He was inducted into the Alpena Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.
After his sports career, he married his beloved wife of 62 years, Janice Karsten. They married in 1956 in Moltke Township. Janice preceded him in death in 2017.
Arthur was employed by the Alpena City Police Department for 32 years. He proudly retired with the rank of Sargent in 1987.
Bud also served in the National Guard for nearly 10 years. He was a founding member of the Little Pine Hunting Camp, past president of the Alpena Fraternal Order of Police, and an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he mowed the lawn until he was 90 years old! He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his camp garden, and snowmobile trips to the UP. Although he enjoyed all these activities his absolute favorite time was family dinners, at home or at camp.
Described by those who knew Bud, knew him as faith-filled and selfless, with his family being his cornerstone. His life was a living example of these virtues. He approached every day with a sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive impact on those around him.
Bud is survived by his loving children, Susan (Micheal) Schultz, Robert (Cheryl) Adrian, and Jodi (Alan) Glomski. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren; Catherine (Travis) Kaiser, Matthew (Katie) Adrian, Todd Adrian (Mackenzie Broderson), Jana Adrian, Kelli Adrian, Andrew Glomski, Chance (Tara) Glomski, Hope (Mike) Edwards. His adored great-grandchildren; Owen Kaiser, Charles, Lucie, and Ernest Adrian, Eli, Arleigh, and Emersyn Adrian-Witulski, and Rex, and Peregrine Glomski.
Family will receive friends on Friday April 11, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 a.m., until the service at noon. The Rev. James Erickson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with McWilliams Funeral Home and Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School.
