MICHAEL RAY FAIRCLOTH

May 11, 1952 – Nov. 1, 2024

Michael Ray Faircloth passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2024, in Alpena. Born on May 11, 1952, in Cheboygan, Mike was an example of love, wisdom, and good sense of humor throughout his 72 years of life, touching the hearts of many with his selfless nature.

Mike was the cherished son of the late William Faircloth and Barbara (Tucker) Crane. His life was a testament to the power of love, having married his life love, Lori Etheridge, on June 3, 1978. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children Jeff (Amy) Faircloth, Brandon (Stacy) Faircloth, Stephanie Faircloth, and the late Jennifer Smith and Annette Faircloth. Mike’s legacy continues through his adoring siblings, Dawn (Duane) Hiller and Gwen Gleason, and he was predeceased by his brothers Jeff and Robert Faircloth. His life was further enriched by the joy of his 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his memory and the lessons he imparted.

After graduating from Flint Northwestern, Mike enlisted in the Navy straight out of high school, dedicating over 15 years of service to his country before serving an additional two years in the Army National Guard. His commitment to service was not limited to the military; Mike worked as a drug and alcohol counselor both during his time in the Navy and afterward. He was always eager to help others, and his compassionate guidance changed countless lives for the better.

Mike’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. An avid sports fan, he held a special place in his heart for his Detroit teams and the University of Michigan. His enthusiasm for sports was matched by his love for bowling, where he achieved the remarkable feat of bowling a perfect 300 game. Mike was also a skilled cribbage and euchre player, and he was known for his love of history. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, whom he loved more than anything else in the world.

Those who knew Mike will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His wisdom was a guiding light in the lives of those he touched, and his selfless nature truly made him special. Mike’s presence was a comfort, and his counsel sought after by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to Mike, we celebrate a life lived with unwavering love, profound wisdom, selfless dedication to others, and unshakeable faith in the one true God, our Savior Jesus Christ. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to cross paths with him. Mike’s journey through life was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures and the deep connections he forged with those around him. He will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life’s work and the warmth of his spirit will continue to inspire and comfort us all.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at McWilliams Funeral Home from noon until the service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Joe Collins officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 2496 and the U.S. Navy. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
