James (Jim) R. Kropp, 71, of Alpena, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Jim was an amazing Father, Grandpa, Uncle, Husband, and friend to many and his presence will be deeply missed. He worked at Panel Processing, retiring in 2013. During his retirement, he spent countless hours enjoying his passion for reading, gaming, and spending time with his wife, family, grandchildren, and his two furry pups (B and Odin). He was a kind, generous, and caring man and will be missed by his family for his unconditional love, guidance, and support. We will all remember Papa Jim and the kind loving person he was; he had a special place in his heart for all his grandchildren. He loved planning fun events for the kids, from having imaginary hunts in the backyard, dancing in the rain, to picnics in the fort. He cherished every moment he spent with all his children and nothing brought him greater pleasure than to hear their laughter.
Jim was born in Garden City, Michigan on June 24, 1953, to John and Helen (Marek) Kropp, Jim is survived by his wife Vicky of 31 years, his sister Jeanne Cousineau, his children, Lisa (Lee) Burns, Becky Kropp, Kristen Metzke, and Ryan Zolnierek; his grandchildren Justin (Courtney) Metzke, Logan (Alexis) Metzke, Teagen Burns, Grayson Burns, Gabriel Miller, and Brayln Zolnierek, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special mention to close family Mike (Julie) Cousineau, Tom (Audy) Julian, and Cindy (Roy) Smith who were here to support him during his final weeks.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Kropp; twin brother John T. Kropp, sister, Joyce Worniak; and brother-in-law, Ted Worniak.
A celebration of life for Jim will take place at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan and Second Chance Animal Shelter.
