EMMET LAWRENCE YUCHASZ

Emmet Lawrence Yuchasz, 81, of Alpena, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.

Emmet was born in Alpena on May 15, 1943, to the late Frank and Marie (Prevo) Yuchasz. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1962 and served in the United States Army and fulfilled his tour of duty during the Vietnam War. Emmet returned to Alpena after discharge and worked at Alpena Supply Co. where he was a daily face for over 40 years. After retirement, he loved tinkering on older cars and watching Clint Eastwood and Gunsmoke westerns with his buddies “Tiger” and the cat.

Emmet was a grouchy kind of guy and earned the nickname of Fonz for his tough guy persona, but once you broke through that he was always ready to help anyone who needed him. He was our go-to guy and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Carla; three children, Todd (Amy) Yuchasz, Tina (Brian) Rondeau, Brandon Holzwarth; six grandchildren, Kaleb, Alex, Allison Yuchasz, Karlee (Brad) Anderson, Hunter O’Neil, Timothey Brown; great-grandchildren, Emmet, Kayden, Addyson Anderson; four siblings, Lonnie (Wendy) Yuchasz, Rhonda (Bill) Kuzenski, Evelyn (Mark) Rouleau, and Dennis Moldenhauer.

Emmet was preceded in death by brother, Kenny Yuchasz and two sisters, Sue Miller and Karen Spencer; and longtime companion Tiger, “bubby dog”.

Memorial visitation will take place Friday at Bannan Funeral Home from noon until the memorial service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Brendan Maroney officiating. Military honors will be accorded him by Alpena VFW Post 2496.
