David H. Loughery, 72, of Alpena, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 20, 2024. Dave was born in Alpena on Nov. 9, 1951, to the late James and Mary Loughery. He was a devoted husband, father, and beloved “Papa” to his grandchildren. A man of many skills, Dave worked for years as a master plumber, retiring from Alpena Regional Medical Center. Dave had a deep even love for the outdoors and took joy in activities even snow blowing and appreciating the beauty of nature. He will be remembered for his infectious positivity and his favorite saying, “Every day’s a holiday, and every meal’s a feast.” Dave proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before returning to his hometown. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (Nehring), his sons David (Kristin) Loughery, Daniel Loughery, and Patrick Loughery, as well as his cherished grandsons, Phoenix Loughery and Leif Davenport. He is also survived by his sisters Barb Stepaniak, Deb (Dennis) Dorr, and his brother Steve (Karen) Loughery, along with many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. A private spreading of his ashes will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or a charity of your choice.
