Taking care of the troops, from making meals and treats for the long shifts that her husband and his troops worked, to making the holidays special for those personnel who were far from home with home cooked meals and a place to go.
As she said, it was time, she went back to school and became a registered nurse, graduating with the “Spirit of Nursing” award from Northern Oklahoma College. After which she became a psych nurse at the Bass Integris Behavioral Health complex at Meadowlake. Where she worked and treated juveniles with multiple complex mental health issues. In 2012, after moving to Alpena, Carolyn became a nurse at the Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health as a Developmentally Disabled RN.
