BRENT ALAN LORITZ

BRENT ALAN LORITZ
April 15, 1960 – Sept. 2, 2024
Brent Alan Loritz, 64, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2024. Born on April 15, 1960, in Garden City, to Alvin and Patricia (Kehrer) Loritz, Brent’s life was a testament to the power of positivity and the joy of living each day to the fullest.
While Brent was born in Garden City, his early years were spent in Westland filled with the love and support of his parents and siblings, Gary, Keith, Michelle, and Patricia. The family bond they shared was a source of strength and happiness that Brent carried with him throughout his life. His warm and loving nature drew people to him, and his ability to find the good in any situation was one of his most admirable traits.
After graduating from high school, Brent proudly served his country as a Marine Corps veteran, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. Upon returning to civilian life, he became a skilled iron worker tradesman, a profession that not only showcased his work ethic and dedication but also allowed him to contribute to the growth and development of his community.
Brent’s zest for life was evident in his wide array of interests. An avid outdoorsman, he relished in the serenity of hunting and fishing, and the challenge of golfing. He was a regular at poker tournaments, where his good-natured competitiveness and camaraderie were well-known. He enjoyed hot tubs, sunshine, and wintering in Florida where he “worked on his tan”. Gardening was another passion, and he took particular joy in feeding his pal Alvin the chipmunk, who became a cherished part of his daily routine.
Family was the cornerstone of Brent’s world. He was a devoted father to his son, Ryan, his daughter, Sara (Chris) Reiter, and his step-sons, Jason (Jennifer) Bobby, and Jeremy (Angela) Bobby. His love for his children was only magnified by the arrival of his grandchildren, Hannah, Morgan, Wyatt, and Harper, with whom he shared countless hours playing and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Brent’s brothers, Gary and Keith (Beth), and sisters, Michelle and Patricia, along with their families, will remember him as the heart of their gatherings, always ready with a story or a laugh. His presence made every moment more vibrant, and his absence will leave a space that cannot be filled. Brent was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his father Alvin, and his brother Gary.
An enthusiastic sports fan, Brent was particularly passionate about University of Michigan football. His rallying cry of “Go Blue!” was a familiar sound during game days, and his animated sideline coaching from the comfort of his living room was a source of amusement and endearment to all who knew him. To know Brent was to know a man who lived with his whole heart, who loved deeply, and who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Brent has been taken for cremation with a memorial service to be held at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
