ROBERT MICHAEL SPLEET

Robert Michael Spleet, 92, of Alpena passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born June 5, 1932, in Alpena to the late Casimer and Nathalie (Ryczynski) Spleet. He served in the United States Army. On Dec. 3, 1955, he married Beverly Fleck. She preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2022. Robert worked at Besser Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1994. Robert was a member of All Saints Parish. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and camping. Robert volunteered as an umpire for the little league and girls’ softball for many years.

Surviving are his five children, Robert Spleet Jr., Suzanne Cheng, Patricia (Thomas) Kelbaugh, Diane Spleet, John Spleet; five grandchildren, Crystal Spleet, Joseph (Susan) Kelbaugh, Ryan (Jennifer) Spleet, Amy (Chase) McCain, Lindsey (Keaton) Sprinkle; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Jace, Rylan, Whitney, Lowel, Jackson, Chloe, Bryant; and brother, Michael (Mary Kay) Spleet.

Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, James Spleet and Theresa Gagnon.

Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. with military honors at 5 p.m. by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496 and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorial visitation will continue Thursday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Aloysius Okpala officiating.
