Kenneth Maynard, 93, of Hubbard Lake, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Kenneth Maynard was born on May 6, 1931, in Highland Park, to the late William and Emma (Lewis) Maynard and proudly served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 14, 1975, he married Katherine Susong. He was the "Toy Soldier" to children of all ages young and old.
Kenneth was a proud member of the American Legion Post 347, Detroit; also, the Grand Correspondent of the 40/8 Voiture 102. He was a talented carpenter for family and friends. Kenneth was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a friend to all and embraced each day with joy and enthusiasm.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine of 49 years; five children, Debra (Larry) Weisman, Kimberley (Anthony) Scicluna, Robin (Stephen) Disbro, Lisa (Harry Davison) Colling, Donald (fiance Pam Stema) Tailor; eight grandchildren, DeAnna (Charlie) Johnson, Crystal (Todd) Weaver, David Geering (Beth Bowerman), Robert Weisman, Dallas Disbro (Tatianna Padmanabhan), Stephanie (Taylor) Terzek, Zakary (Gillian) Tailor, Brendan Tailor; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Maynard.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Karen Thompson officiating. Military honors will be accorded him by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496.
