DAVID RUTH

David Ruth, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 18, 2024. Born to Robert and Rena (DeQuoy) Ruth on May 19, 1953, he will be deeply missed by his siblings, Susan (Dan) Bushey, Robert (Vonda) Ruth, and Charles (Evon) Ruth; his sister-in-law Pamela Ruth; 11 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and sister Patricia.

David’s passion for sports began in his youth. At Alpena Catholic Central High School, he excelled in baseball, football, and track, graduating in 1971. His love for sports continued as he coached baseball, officiated games, and co-coached his team to victory in the 1982 Babe Ruth World Series. He was honored by the Michigan High School Athletics Association in 1997. Golf was another lifelong passion.

David cherished his home on Long Lake, where he hosted family gatherings, creating unforgettable memories filled with laughter and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at 8250 Greenwood, Alpena. This will be a time to share stories and honor David’s life and love for Alpena and its people.
