BLANCHE FILIPIAK
BLANCHE FILIPIAK
March 15, 1947 – Aug. 12, 2024
Blanche Filipiak, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2024, in her hometown of Alpena, where she was also born on March 15, 1947. Blanche’s life was a testament to the power of caring and devotion, qualities that she embodied every day of her 77 years.
The daughter of the late Edmond and Stella (Chalupniczak) Cushman, Blanche grew up in a home filled with warmth and kindness, a foundation that would shape the rest of her life. She shared a special bond with her brothers, Robert (Mary) Cushman and Joe (Kay) Cushman, and held dear the memories of her brothers Frank, Stanley, and Mark Cushman, who preceded her in death.
Blanche’s heart found its match in her beloved husband, Robert Filipiak, with whom she built a life rich in joy and companionship for 61 years. Together, they raised a family that came to include their loving daughters, Connie (Mike) Socier, Paula Filipiak, and Ann Marie (Ron) Sytek, and their cherished son, Robin. Blanche’s role as a mother was one she treasured deeply, and her guidance and affection helped shape the lives of her children in countless positive ways.
Blanche relished her role as a trainer for Girl Scout Leaders. Those who knew Blanche will remember her for the exceptional meals she prepared with love, as cooking was one of her greatest passions. Her kitchen was not just a place for food; it was the heart of the home where family and friends gathered, and where memories were made. Blanche’s recipes and the warmth of her hospitality will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to be at her table.
Blanche’s legacy extends beyond her immediate family to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy. She will be dearly missed.
Per her wishes she has been taken for cremation with a private service at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
