BARBARA MARIE THOMAS

Barbara Marie Thomas, 80, of Alpena passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Sunday July 28, 2024.

Barbara Marie Bingham was born Oct. 26, 1943, in Alpena to the late H. Richard and Esther (Reynolds) Bingham. On Aug. 25, 1962, she married Terry Thomas and what followed was 61 storybook years of forever together until Terry’s death on Jan. 28, 2024.

Barbara graduated from Alpena Community College and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Lake Superior State University. She retired as a Commercial Loan Lender from Citizens Bank.

Surviving are Barbara’s two daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Hendricks, Carolyn (Glen) Daoust; five grandchildren, Allysha Losinski, Spencer Losinski, Jesse (Kaylee) Hendricks, Ryan (Alli Rouleau) Hendricks, Ashley (Joe) Hutek; two great-grandsons, Lucus Casebier and Hayden Hutek; siblings, Phyllis (Richard) Genschaw, Jay (Linda) Bingham; numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara, aka “Grams,” had two great joys in life, first and foremost was family, and her second biggest joy was spending time at the Rivers Edge Golf Course with Terry and/or her golfing “buddies.” When not enjoying time with family and golfing, Barbara could be found in her favorite chair with a good book as she was a voracious reader. Barbara will always be remembered for her calm and kind demeanor along with being a very selfless, loving and supportive mother and grandmother.

Memorial visitation will take place Friday, Aug. 9, at Bannan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until the memorial service at 4 p.m. with the Rev. John Shipman officiating.
