Mr. Richard Phillip Shaw, 75 of Hillman, died unexpectedly on June 30, 2024. He was born to the late Ernest and Helen (Colley) Shaw on Dec. 28, 1948, in Highland Park. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Richard married his beautiful wife, Bonnie (Coleman) Shaw on March 31, 1973, and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing. They have resided in Hillman since 2004. Richard was a member of the Hillman VFW Post. In the past he played fast pitch softball and hockey. He enjoyed working on cars and was a collector of many things, including one piece trading cards and Hot Wheels. He loved Harry Potter and was perhaps Pink Floyd's biggest fan. Aside from his hobbies, Richard found joy in being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He is and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Shaw of Hillman; children, Sandra (Tony) Parker, Susan (Rob) Young, Robert (Chloe) Shaw, Deborah (Josh) Rice; grandchildren, Cody, Brendan, Adriana, Jackie, Aaron, Vanessa, and Blake; and cousin, Shannon Shaw and his daughter, Meadow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Shaw.
A military funeral will take place for Richard at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Green Funeral Home, Hillman; Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. The Hillman VFW Post 2356 and United States Army will present military honors. Visitation will take place from noon until time of service. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home.
