Eleanor Schrader
Feb. 10, 1932 – July 13, 2024
Eleanor Blanche Schrader, a beacon of gentle love and unwavering dedication to her family, passed peacefully into eternal rest on July 13, 2024, in her hometown of Alpena, where she also first greeted the world on Feb. 10, 1932. Born to the late Floyd and Ethel (Jacobs) Standen, Eleanor’s life was a tapestry woven with the threads of devotion, joy, and an enduring spirit of adventure.
Her journey through life was shared with her beloved husband of 75 years, Floyd Schrader, with whom she built an enduring legacy that flourished through their children Gary (Nancy) Schrader, Diane Wodkowski (Donnie Smith), Dave (Sherry) Schrader, and Linda Anderson. Eleanor’s warmth and kindness were also a guiding light for her siblings, Merle Udell, Howard Standen, and Ronald Standen. Her love further extended to her 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. Her family circle was vast and included many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Although preceded in death by her granddaughter Delynn Schrader and great-granddaughter Samantha Schrader, Eleanor’s memory will continue to be a source of strength and comfort to her family.
For many years, Eleanor was a familiar and friendly face at the local Sears, where she worked as an associate. Eleanor’s zest for life was evident in her love for traveling and her cherished trips to Florida. She found solace in the great outdoors, whether it was during family camping trips or simply spending time in her own backyard, surrounded by the laughter and stories of her loved ones. Her passion for exploration and adventure was matched only by her enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life.
Eleanor has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
