Joshua Lee Fletcher passed away unexpectedly at the age of 44 on June 1, 2024, in Alpena, where he was also born on March 19, 1980. Josh's life was one marked by laughter, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His presence brought light and joy to every room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Josh is survived by a loving family that was the center of his world. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Kendra, and his two adoring sons, Parker and Mason, and their mother Kari Vanderheuel who will carry forward the legacy of his love and laughter. His parents, Chester Fletcher and Barbara Ferguson, remember him as a beacon of joy and kindness. Josh also leaves behind his brothers, Jared Fletcher and his wife Erin, Jonathan (Christopher) Farrell, sister-in-law Christine Fletcher, and long-time friend and honorary brother, Pete Lis. His nieces and nephews, Addison, Ava, Ethan, Logan, Aiden, Connor, and Sawyer will miss their uncle's playful spirit and heartwarming embrace. Josh was preceded in death by his brother Jason, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
Josh's early years in Hillman laid the foundation for a life full of adventure and service. His mechanically inclined nature led him to a fulfilling career as a truck driver, a job that suited his zest for life and love for the open road.
Those who knew Josh understood that his heart was as vast as the outdoors he so loved to explore. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and joy in the natural world, often accompanied by his boys, Parker and Mason. These cherished moments in the wilderness were more than hobbies; they were the threads that wove the fabric of treasured family memories.
Josh's infectious energy meant he was always on the go, seeking new experiences and friendships. His ability to make friends wherever he went was nothing short of remarkable. Josh had a gift for making each person feel uniquely seen and valued, whether they were a lifelong friend or a new acquaintance. His sense of humor, known to his loved ones as that of a true goofball, was a source of endless entertainment and comfort.
As a father, Josh was nothing short of amazing. He approached fatherhood with the same enthusiasm and love that he applied to every aspect of his life. His guidance and support shaped his sons into young men of character, mirroring their father's loving and handy nature.
Josh's impact extended beyond his immediate family to include his extended family, who were incredibly important to him. He was the kind of uncle, brother, and son who showed up when it mattered, offering help, a joke, or a shoulder to lean on without hesitation.
Josh is at McWilliams Funeral Home where visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 8, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. with Jerrod Villereal officiating. Interment to follow at King Settlement Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
