MICHAEL ROBERT CONNOLLY

Michael Robert Connolly, 75, of Alpena, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Michael Robert Connolly was born Nov. 17, 1948, to Robert and Elizabeth (Betty) Connolly, first of two sons after four daughters, grandson of C.C. & Sarah Lappan. He married Marcia Hubble on Aug. 9, 1975, in Manistique, in her parents' backyard.

Survived by wife, Marcia; daughter Carisa (Michael) Deegan, Christopher (Kaelie) Connolly; two grandsons, Jack & Quinn Deegan; as well as granddog, Maggie Sue; brother, EJ (Ann Boucher) Connolly; brother-in-law, Jere Doyle; aunt, Sally Lappan and all the Lappan cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law Pat & Mike Yantomasi, Kay & George Hug, Mary Doyle, Carolyn & Ron Biscorner, Brent Lambert; nephew, Kevin Biscorner. Many nieces and nephews will continue the family legacy, Andrea, Amy & Joelle; Elizabeth, Edward, EJ, Christina; Robert & Reed; Marc; Sean & Carly.

Marcia's sisters and brothers loved him dearly, Laurie & Charles Jackson, Judy & Dale Brimacombe, Darryl & Mary Hubble, Dean & Jan Hubble, Kathy & Nick Putsky and Randy & Amy Hubble, as well as their children.

Mike loved a good story or joke and entertained all who would listen, even kept a list of jokes to pull out when needed. He avoided discussions about politics or religion, other than regaling us with catechism stories. He was kind and generous. Mike loved numbers, profit & loss statements, tracking investments, business opportunities, old TV shows, movies about boats, planes or cowboys, Shark Tank, but most importantly his grandsons' sporting activities.

After working at Lappan Agency, he started the InsuranCenter of Alpena, managed Thunder Bay Shores Marine, Presque Isle Harbor and Hammond Bay Refuge Harbor for the State of Michigan, co-owned the Presque Isle Portage Store, Latitudes Tavern, and Mitten Map Company. He served on the Alpena Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as well as the Boys Club of Alpena and Michigan Brown Trout Festival committee for many years.

Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday at Bannan Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until family sharing at 1 p.m.
