DONNA MARIE OLSEN

Donna Marie Olsen, 86, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Medi Lodge of Rogers City.

She was born on July 3, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Hardy) Piper. Throughout her life, she cared for many family members, helping when she was needed and putting their needs first before her own. She worked as a manager of Three Sisters and Gittlemens and then chose to become a Nurse’s Aide working at Hillman Haven for many years. In her later years after she retired, she truly enjoyed her home and yard. You would often see her outside tending to her flowers, cleaning up her flower beds and tending to her lawn. She had a passion for music and was a talented baritone ukulele player. She played at many family gatherings with her Aunt Marge, her son Kim, and friends. What great memories were made while having so much fun.

She was a mother to her three children, Kim (Jill) Olsen of Ossineke, Brian (Irene) Olsen of Germany, and Tammy Donakowski (Steven Weinkauf) of Alpena. She adored her seven grandchildren, Katie (Tim) Lee, Ashley (Andy) Geib, Jeffrey (Meghan) Olsen, Alexa (Sean) DeCarlo, Trenton Donakowski, Johnny (Carina) Olsen and Justin Olsen. She adored her great-grandchildren and her life was filled with joy when she was with them. They are Alivia & Alexia Lee, Emersyn & Hendrix Geib, Whittaker & Beau Olsen, Isabell Olsen, and Arianna DeCarlo. She is also survived by her brother Gary Piper and sister Sandy Brilin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and great-granddaughter Taylor DeCarlo.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at a later date. Her final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
