CLARENCE T. KRAFT

Clarence T. Kraft, 89, of Lachine, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. He was a kind, caring, and loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend whom will be dearly missed.

Clarence was born on Aug. 14, 1934, to the late August and Mary (Marzean) Kraft in Alpena. He was a graduate of Alpena High School Class of 1953. On June 27, 1957, he married the love of his life, Carol Miller at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Herron. They were married for 64 years until she preceded him in death in 2021.

Clarence was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was an Iron Worker for the Local 25 out of Novi and had his hand in building many bridges throughout his life such as the, Mackinaw Bridge, the local 9th Street Bridge in Alpena, and the Zilwaukee Bridge. He was the oldest living member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus Council #529, and long-time member of St. John Catholic Church.

He is survived by three children: Thomas (Mary) Kraft of Madison Heights; Teresa (Gary) Rucinski, of Alpena; and Michael (Maria) Kraft of Pinckney; six grandchildren: Analisa, Ariel, and Serena Kraft, Nicole (Kyle) Leavesley, Alexandra and Nicholas Kraft; three step-grandchildren: Aric (Melissa) Piercey, Ben Piercey, and Jon Piercey; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings.

Family will receive friends for visitation at Ross Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 7, from 4 until 6 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus 4th degree presentation of the Chalice to start at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 8, at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to K of C Council #529 or All Saints of Alpena.
