Nov. 6, 1944 – April 8, 2024

Robert Duane Mock, 79, of Ossineke, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024.

Born to the late John and Bertha (Seeman) Mock on Nov. 6, 1944, in Jackson, Bob’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering kindness, his handy and friendly nature, and the joy he found in the great outdoors. Bob’s early years in Jackson were filled with the warmth of a loving family, including his siblings Russ (Nancy) Mock and Barbara (the late Conly) George as well as several nieces and nephews. He was a cherished brother to his late sisters, Dolores Kuntz and Alice Adams. Bob’s life was further enriched when he met and married his wife, Vickie Gildersleeve in 1978. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Kevin Mock (Tia Meno) and Jeffrey Mock.

Bob served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1968. After his military service, Bob embarked on a long and successful career as a UPS feeder driver. For 42 years, he navigated the roads with the same steadiness and commitment he applied to all areas of his life, retiring in 2011 with the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Bob lived his life doing what he loved most: immersing himself in nature. An avid outdoorsman, he relished every opportunity to go hunting and fishing, with special memories made during trips to Canada with his buddies. Beyond his love for the outdoors, Bob was known for his friendly “fix it” personality. He was everyone’s friend, always ready with a helping hand or a word of advice.

Per his wishes, Bob has been taken for cremation with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
