RICK WAYNE DeMARR

Rick Wayne DeMarr, 67, of Alpena, passed away peacefully following a three-year courageous battle with kidney cancer on April 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Rick was born in Muskegon on Jan. 23, 1957, to the late Donald and Lois (Gillies) DeMarr. He married Darlene Tacoma on Sept. 1, 1979. Rick worked as a Physician Assistant for numerous years. He found enjoyment in caring for his clients and developed great relationships with many of them. In 2021, Rick’s health issues made it impossible for him to continue his life’s work. He had a deep relationship with Jesus and a strong desire to share his testimony with others. He was a member of Word of Life Baptist Church. Family was a priority and as a result, they are left with many wonderful memories. Rick enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. In the past, he enjoyed coaching recreational and middle school baseball and basketball teams.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene; children, Erin (Adam) Hiske, Kyle (Hailey) DeMarr; grandchildren, Alan Davis, Naomi, Vivian, Johanna, and Sabrina Hiske, Knox and Norah DeMarr; sisters, Pamela (Greg) Nicolini and Rebecca (Collette) Ellinghouse; brother-in-law David (Laura) Tacoma; sisters-in-law Linda Gritter and Judy (John) Christian; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Saturday at Word of Life Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with Pastor Scott Joy officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
