CORINNE ISABELLE SCHAEDIG

Jan. 30, 1935 – April 12, 2024

Corinne Isabelle (Horn) Schaedig, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, in Alpena. Born on Jan. 30, 1935, in Rogers City, to the late Fred and Edna (Fisher) Horn, Corinne’s life was a testament to the power of spirited generosity and unwavering faith.

Corinne’s early years were spent in the close-knit community of Rogers City, where she received her foundational education at St. John’s Lutheran School and later graduated from Rogers City High School. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong sense of devotion to her community and church, shaping the woman she would become.

After completing her education, Corinne embarked on a fulfilling career as a bookkeeper at Kotwitkis Clothing Store in Rogers City, where her meticulous attention to detail and warm personality made her a beloved figure among colleagues and customers alike. Her professional journey continued as she lovingly served as a church secretary at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alpena for 16 years, a role that reflected her deep commitment to her faith and her church family.

Corinne’s heart found its match in Ivan Emil Schaedig, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Though Ivan preceded her in death, their union was blessed with three children: Scott Schaedig of Alpena, Kristine (Andrew) Smolinski of Alpena, and Timothy (Amy) Schaedig of Palatine, Ill. Corinne’s legacy continued to flourish through her adored grandchildren: Michael (Alanna Lunsted) Reed, Wesley (Katie Blumke) Reed, Nathan (Riley Dodson), Hayden (Ilianna Grannakouras), Tate, and Sydney Schaedig.

A woman of many talents, Corinne’s interests were as rich and varied as her character. She was an exceptional cook and baker, often found creating delicious treats that brought joy to family gatherings. Her sewing skills were unmatched, and she took pleasure in camping adventures that allowed her to embrace the beauty of the outdoors. Corinne’s love for music was evident as she lent her voice to the church choir, and her passion for dancing was a sight to behold.

Corinne’s dedication to her community shone brightly through her active membership in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a vital part of the Ladies Aide, alter, and flower guilds. Her involvement in these groups was not merely a pastime but a clear reflection of her desire to serve and uplift those around her.

Those who knew Corinne will remember her as a loving and kind soul, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Her spirited nature was contagious, inspiring others to embrace life with joy and gratitude. Corinne’s presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will continue to be cherished.
