TWYLA CATHERINE KITZMAN

Feb. 16, 1936 – March 17, 2024

Our dear sister in Christ and devoted servant, Twyla Catherine Kitzman, went home to the Lord on March 17, 2024. Twyla was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Midland, to John and Nellie (Murray) Bihn. She and her beloved husband Kermit were married almost 60 years and owned Handy Market in Alpena. Twyla worked at Immanuel Lutheran School with her mentor/friend, Joyce Kindt, and cared for children in her home. She was a gifted musician, playing the organ and piano for church services, and had a beautiful singing voice as well. Twyla volunteered at her churches (Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ossineke, most recently) and for K2Kids. Twyla is survived by her brother, Gilbert Bihn, sister-in-law Ann (Lowell)Tolly, friends Roy and Patty Gagnon, and many dear nieces, nephews, and family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit, twin infant sons Dennis and Duane, son Kerwin, daughter Lynnell, and many other cherished family members. We extend a special thank you to Twyla’s many caregivers, especially Harley and Maxine, and the staff of Medilodge/Hillman and Compassus Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alpena on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, or Dalis to the Rescue animal rescue, Alma. McWilliams Funeral Home is assisting the family.
