THOMAS BRADLEY COOK

THOMAS BRADLEY COOK

Jan. 7, 1964 – March 9, 2024

Thomas Bradley Cook, known affectionately as Brad to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack on March 9, 2024, in Chicago. Born in Saginaw on Jan. 7, 1964, to parents Thomas and Judith (Dedoes) Cook, Brad’s brilliant mind and warm heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He shared the joys of life with his beloved wife, Ilene, and their cherished dog, Blueberry.

Brad’s formative years were spent in the halls and on the fields of Alpena High School, where he not only set the record for the highest SAT score but also excelled as a formidable presence on the football team and as a player on the state champion hockey team. His academic and athletic prowess led him to Ferris State University, where he continued his football career while laying the groundwork for a future filled with innovation and entrepreneurship.

A true inventor at heart, Brad held multiple patents and was the driving force behind several successful business ventures. His passion for technology was unparalleled; he could build a computer from scratch with the same ease as he conversed about the latest tech trends. This intelligence was matched by his passion, which he poured into every project and relationship.

Brad’s life was a testament to his capacity for love and his ability to inspire those around him. His marriage to Ilene Stone in April of 1999 was a celebration of shared values and mutual respect, a union that stood strong in both triumph and adversity.

A proud family man, Brad is survived by his wife, Ilene; his parents, Thomas and Judith Cook; his siblings, Susan (Armando) Ortiz, John (Valerie) Cook, and JB (Teri) Cook; as well as seven nieces and nephews, and one grandnephew who will all cherish his memory and continue his legacy of kindness and generosity.

Brad’s interests extended beyond technology and business. A huge dog lover, he could often be found playing with Blueberry or taking her for long walks, reveling in the simple joys of companionship. His intelligence and passion were evident in everything he did, from his professional achievements to the way he nurtured his relationships with family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Alpena with the Rev. Rob Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Huron Humane Society. McWilliams Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
